Why sleep on silk?
- One piece of satin silk fabric 70 × 150cm (the fabric weight that is recommended is 90-130g/m2)
- Polyester thread
- A microtex needle (70 or 75)
- A box of fine pins
Step 1: Assembly
Step 2: Prepare the interior
Press the fabric with an iron. Fold the fabric 15 cm from the edge to form the flap. Then, create a double hem of 2 cm at the bottom of the flap (4 cm total).
Topstitch the hem using a 3-3.5 mm stitch length.
Step 3: Sew the pillowcase
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, without including the flap, to form the front and back of the pillowcase. Sew French seams on the sides: place the front and back wrong sides together (the flap should remain folded on the back of the silk), stitch 7 mm from the edge, then trim the seam allowance to 3–4 mm.
Turn the piece inside out so the right sides are together. Press the seam, then sew again 7 mm from the fold to enclose the raw edges.
Press your work at a low temperature.
